JOB/POSITION TITLE: Elementary Health Aide/Office Clerk
OFFICE/CAMPUS: Principal’s Office/Nuuanu Elementary
REPORTS TO: School Nurse & Elementary Principal
STATUS: 12 months, Full-time, Non-exempt
HOURLY RANGE: $18.50 – $21.00
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To attend to the health needs of students and assist with office responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:
- Treat abrasions, cuts & bruises of students
- Administer student medication and maintain organization of medicine cabinet
- Work with School Nurse on major illnesses & injuries of children
- Informs Principal of injuries resulting from behavioral problems
- Communicates with parents regarding children’s injuries/illnesses
- Maintains health records of students
- Prepare First Aid kits and collect Travel Emergency Forms for school field trips.
- Audit school health records at the beginning of the school year (for physicals, TB clearance, etc.)
- Input and keep updated student health information
- Prepare quarterly report for Principal regarding injuries and attendance
- Assist the Principal’s Assistant with general office duties, including answering phone, responding to family emails, and assisting parent and visitor walk-ins.
- Share the love and faith in Jesus Christ with students.
OTHER DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with annual book order
- Attendance and family follow-up.
- Distribute homework of sick students.
- Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Equipment Use: Computer, copier and telephone. MS Office, Google Suite, Blackbaud, Magnus Health
- Work hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
- Mental Demands: Ability to assess injuries. Good judgment. Alertness with dealing with parents, students and staff; ability to retain and recall information and work cooperatively with staff. High attention to detail. Ability to think analytically and perform multiple tasks effectively.
- Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods, corrected vision, and the ability to move quickly to any area on campus in case of emergency. Must be able to bend, lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
- Social Demands: Ability to communicate with all stakeholders in a friendly and concise way.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Spiritual: Must have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their life and; demonstrate a living relationship with Jesus Christ as described in “The Baptist Faith and Message”, the tenets of the Southern Baptist denomination.
- Skills/Knowledge: First Aid, CPR and AED trained (repeated every 2 years), basic clerical skills.
- Education/Training: High School diploma
- Experience: Prior work experience in a health room is desirable.
