HAWAI’I SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MARKETING MANAGER March 28, 2025 The Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra seeks a full-time Marketing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have marketing and communications experience, interest in classical music, work well in a collaborative environment, be exceptionally organized and focused, and exhibit outstanding oral and written communication skills. Marketing and communications responsibilities The Marketing Manager is a key member of HSO’s Advancement team and works closely with the Associate Director of Advancement and HSO’s communications agency that serves as a strategic advisor. Responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s marketing strategies to reach new audiences, promote the orchestra’s image, and drive ticket sales and attendance goals. Specific tasks include: • Implement all aspects of season subscription and renewal campaigns, including direct mail, email, and telemarketing • Monitor the progress of sales campaigns and provide reports • Coordinate the creation and distribution of press releases and media alerts • Assist in scheduling artists for media appearances • Gather season and artist materials for press kit and media requests • Manage social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube accounts) • Write and collect content for and deploy targeted email campaigns and digital campaigns • Update and manage HSO website content • Oversee the design and production of all promotional materials, including season brochures, ads, posters, postcards, emails, stationary/business cards, and program book • Attend concerts and serve as liaison to media, VIPs, and ambassador to patrons • Set up merchandise and collateral tables at concerts, interacting with venue staff • Coordinate with the artistic and administrative teams to ensure upcoming events are created and made public appropriately • Assist with special events as needed Qualifications: • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills, attention to detail, and a friendly, positive, customer-service oriented spirit; ability to interact with a diverse range of personalities • Knowledge of email marketing platforms a plus (Constant Contact, MailChimp) • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other team members and to manage multiple projects simultaneously • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite, Google Sheets, Google Docs • Familiarity and comfort with desktop graphic design programs such as Canva • Database experience in software such as Patron Manager and Salesforce CRM • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for concerts and events • Genuine interest in bringing great music to the community
Salary range and benefits: $52,000-$55,000; full time, exempt, salaried.
