Position Summary
The Training and Technical Assistant (TTA) Manager is based in Honolulu, HI and plays an important role on the HSCADV programmatic team. This role is for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with demonstrated critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
This position assists HSCADV in shaping survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive programming with a statewide impact. This role includes curriculum development, the delivery of on-site and virtual training for member program staff and the community at large. We are seeking someone with professional experience in the domestic violence field, strong training skills, and the desire to learn and grow in their professional development.
Attending in-person meetings and events, and occasional overnight travel are required. Meetings are typically in Honolulu, and they may occasionally take place around the state. Valid driver’s license and/or ability to travel (e.g., trainings, meetings) locally and out of the area are required.
Responsibilities
Programmatic Oversight and Leadership
- Develop and manage HSCADV’s annual training and technical assistance calendar.
- Coordinate and facilitate quarterly membership and shelter meetings.
- Plan and participate in Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) events and related activities.
- Provide consultation, capacity building, and technical assistance to member programs, system partners, and community stakeholders.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver online and in-person training and technical assistance opportunities for HSCADV membership programs, system partners, and community stakeholders to enhance their capacity to meet the needs of survivors of domestic violence and their families.
- Design and deliver training accessible to participants with diverse learning styles, language needs, and experience levels.
- Training and TA topics may include, but are not limited to: Dynamics of domestic violence, Survivor-centered and trauma-informed practice , Intersection of race, culture, and violence, Health and wellness, Child development, Housing and economic stability, Language access, Immigration-related issues
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of training and technical assistance activities through participant feedback and data collection.
- Maintain accurate records of training and technical assistance activities for funder and internal reporting.
- Identify, adapt, and/or develop educational resources to support HSCADV’s capacity-building efforts.
- Maintain and update Coalition Manager (database) training and resource modules with accurate data, materials, and documentation.
Membership and Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic violence member programs, system partners, and community stakeholders to support sustainable, high-quality training services.
- Monitor the HSCADV training email account and respond to member and partner requests promptly.
- Stay informed on national and local domestic violence trends to proactively guide training priorities.
- Participate in weekly supervision, annual evaluations, and support organizational workplan goals.
- Develop and sustain relationships with organizations serving rural, underserved, and marginalized communities.
- Participate in advocacy efforts and public awareness campaigns that advance HSCADV’s mission and statewide domestic violence prevention efforts.
Internal Operations and Collaboration
- Collaborate with HSCADV leadership on programmatic grant applications, including gathering data and drafting or reviewing narrative sections.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize data across grant programs to identify trends, key issues, and emerging training and technical assistance needs.
- Anticipate training needs of domestic violence member programs and the broader community, using data and field engagement to inform planning.
- Develop, review, and edit HSCADV-facilitated and approved partner training materials to ensure alignment with grant objectives, outcomes, and best practices in domestic violence work.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in adult learning, training delivery (online and in-person), and organizational capacity building.
- Demonstrated knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, survivor-centered practice, and trauma-informed approaches, with the ability to apply this knowledge in training and technical assistance settings.
- Experience providing training or technical assistance within nonprofit, government, or community-based systems.
- Knowledge of systems advocacy and experience working across multidisciplinary partners.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and competing priorities.
- Proven ability to problem-solve, research, and interpret complex information in diverse and sometimes high-stakes situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for varied audiences and contexts.
- Proven ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse colleagues, partners, consultants, and community members.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
- Advanced working knowledge and a high degree of comfort with the hardware and software HSCADV uses:
- Microsoft Office products, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
- Other Programs: Zoom platform, Create and edit PDF documents using Adobe, Use Adobe to facilitate document signatures, Monday work management system, WordPress, Canva, Dropbox , Google Drive, documents, sheets, and forms, & Slack
- Proficiency or ability to quickly learn: MailJet email marketing software, Coalition Manager, HSCADV database, SurveyMonkey, MS Teams
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer., Light work that includes lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds at times. Ability to write, type, and use the computer, telephone, copier, and other office equipment systems.
- Ability and willingness to work both evenings and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience working within nonprofit organizations, including familiarity with nonprofit management and operations.
- Experience working with or administering government-funded programs, including familiarity with federal funding requirements such as:
- Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) grants
- Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) funding
- Experience working within Hawaiʻi, including familiarity with local nonprofit systems, community-based organizations, and culturally responsive approaches to community engagement.
