Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Location- Hilo or Kona
Pay Range- $80,750.00-$109,250.00
Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Administrator and in collaboration with the Medical Director, the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) provides evidence-based nutrition counseling and education to promote health and manage diseases. The RDN delivers these services through in-clinic and remote visits, offering both individual and group sessions as part of Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center’s Nutrition Program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required-A Masters Degree in nutrition/dietetics from an ACEND-accredited program, completion of 1,200 hours of supervised practice (internship), and passing the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) national examination
- Required-Current Hawaiʻi Registered Dietitian Nutritionist license required and must be maintained
- Preferred-2 years of health care services experience
- Preferred-Current Diabetes Care and Education Credential highly preferred; either Board-Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or Board-Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM®)
Responsibilities:
- Delivers expert public health nutrition services, conducting comprehensive assessments of clients' nutritional status across the lifespan.
- Accesses the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to review client history, updates client charts and completes proper documentation for both non-billable and billable services as an RDN. o Ensures documentation is clear and detailed for accurate billing and justification of appropriate CPT codes. o Remains updated on billing aspects of nutritional encounters and reimbursements
- Serves as a key member of multidisciplinary clinical care teams, offering nutrition expertise to promote patient-centered care and integrating evidence-based nutrition practices and trends into treatment plans. o In addition to scheduled appointments, maximizes patient access and encounters by performing same day nutritional counseling visits when patients are in clinic for other types of visits or services. o Consults with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of the patient.
