Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
- Assess patient vital signs and review medical histories to ensure safe and effective care.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) using digital.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures with chairside assisting skills.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment.
- Review documentation, medical records, and treatment plans for accuracy and completeness.
- Use dental terminology effectively to communicate findings and recommendations clearly.
- Support pediatric dentistry cases with specialized knowledge of pediatrics and child-friendly approaches.
Skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
- Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures, dental assisting techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to oral health.
- Experience with infection control standards, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes within a dental clinic setting.
- Ability to perform patient assessment including vital signs measurement and medical coding for billing purposes.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and the unique needs of young patients.
