Production / Inventory Planner

Haviland Enterprises, Inc., a 100% Employee Owned, industrial chemical, plastics and pool and spa chemical manufacturing and distribution company, specializing in creative chemistry seeks a Production/Inventory Planner in our Grand Rapids, MI facility. This position will have full ownership of both inventory levels and productin planning for the faciltiy. Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• 3–5 years of Production Planning / Inventory Control experience using the latest MRP technology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, ERP systems, and other applications/systems; Chempax experience is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial, with high levels of energy and self-motivation.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Basic arithmetic skills.
• Resilient, resourceful, and optimistic, with strong organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and manage time and resources to achieve individual and company goals and objectives.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Demand Planning:

• Understand baseline business requirements through active monitoring of customer volumes, and adjust inventory levels through hands-on reorder point (ROP) management in partnership with Sales.
• Own review of new sales demand within the HubSpot pipeline, driving proactive collaboration sessions with Sales representatives and the NPI Coordinator on new business.

Capacity Planning:

• Understand asset capabilities, equipment utilization, and available capacity, partnering with Operations on manpower schedules and the ability to flex overtime to support demand.
• Raise capacity conflicts early and often and highlight underutilized resources.

Inventory Planning:

• Review the inventory ROP report and requisition materials needed to support customer demand.
• Own inventory dollars and Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) for products and raw materials within remit; continually challenge the status quo to surface inventory-reduction opportunities (supplier MOQs, lead-time improvements) and partner with Sales to move old and slow-moving inventory.
• Own the East Facility cycle counting program, tracking KPIs for schedule adherence and inventory accuracy in partnership with Operations, and facilitate the annual physical inventory.
• Own consignment inventory management, including customer transactions and supplier consignment inventory, adjustments, cycle counts, and reporting.
• Production Planning & Scheduling
• Create, maintain, and facilitate understanding of the master production schedule with key stakeholders, including the 2-week rolling schedule and 3-day locked plan.
• Release work orders to meet production requirements.
• Facilitate the daily production meeting and the weekly production planning meeting.

New Product Introductions:

• Support all activities related to the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including setup of new item numbers (NIN).

Specialty Operations:

• Support Acid Room operations with inventory analysis and turns to drive appropriate ROP and replenishment of top commodities.
• Own and manage returnable fleet inventory in partnership with the Acid Room and Traffic teams to ensure adequate stock is available to support the aging fleet.
• Coordinate orders and complete transactions for toll blending with third-party tollers.

Reporting & Communication:

• Own the daily backorder report-out and communications, raising concerns and issues with leadership and partnering with the cross-functional team on root cause analysis and next-available-inventory dates.

Continuous Improvement & Systems:

• Support continuous improvement efforts, including exploring new ERP capabilities and the latest AI tools to drive step-change improvements in planning; document agreed-upon improvements and standardize across teams.
• Maintain material master data to drive accurate use of MRP for all finished goods and raw materials.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Interact daily with shop floor supervisors/managers regarding manufacturing issues, changes, and requests from other departments.
• Attend meetings to review issues, cycle counts, dead inventory, and process updates.
• Partner with other departments to resolve inconsistencies between Chempax and actual inventory levels, and make adjustments in Chempax as needed.
• Serve the needs of internal customers by offering assistance and responding in a timely manner.
• Create, collect, and document data as assigned, and implement continuous improvement ideas.
• Partner with other departments to find efficient ways to produce and deliver customer orders as promised (adjusting stocking levels, lead times, and rush orders).
