About the Role
Haverhill Pavilion Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a dedicated Nurse Educator/Infection Preventionist to join our team. This is a unique dual-role position that blends staff development with patient safety leadership. You will play a key role in ensuring our clinical team is well-trained, confident, and supported while also leading the hospital’s infection prevention and control program.

What You’ll Do
Nurse Educator Responsibilities
- Facilitate orientation and onboarding for new hires to ensure successful integration into the team.
- Develop and deliver engaging education programs for licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Assess staff learning needs and design training to close practice gaps.
- Align educational programs with facility goals, safety data, and regulatory requirements.
- Support competency management by evaluating skills and providing feedback.
- Serve as a role model and clinical resource for nursing staff.
- Provide “just-in-time” education and support staff in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.
Infection Preventionist Responsibilities
- Lead the hospital’s infection prevention and control program.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance of infections, track trends, and prepare reports for hospital committees.
- Inspect the facility environment and staff practices for infection risks.
- Provide training on infection prevention protocols, isolation procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with leadership and medical staff to respond to exposure incidents and report communicable diseases.
- Promote a culture of safety by reinforcing infection prevention practices across departments.
What We’re Looking For
- Licensure: Current RN license in Massachusetts (required).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required); Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education, or related field preferred.
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of RN experience required; 5 years strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of behavioral health RN experience required; inpatient psychiatry strongly preferred.
- Experience in infection prevention/control preferred.
- Prior experience in clinical education, training, or staff development a plus.
- Certifications: CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training provided). CIC (Certification in Infection Control) or Nursing Professional Development certification preferred.
