We are seeking a dependable, organized, and hands-on part-time Returns Associate to join our team in Indianapolis to help manage customer returns for our ISOtunes products.

About the Role

As an increasingly ecommerce-focused business, returns are an important part of our operations. This role is responsible for ensuring returned products move efficiently through the returns process—from receiving and organizing incoming returns, to evaluating, refurbishing, and recycling products as appropriate. The goal of this role is simple: keep returns moving so returned products do not sit in boxes or accumulate in the office.

This is a hands-on execution and ownership role designed for someone who can work independently while following established procedures and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive & Organize Returns: Receive, unpack, sort, and process incoming customer returns. Verify returned items against order information, maintain an organized staging area, identify damaged or unusual returns to escalate, and ensure timely processing to prevent backlogs.
• Inspect & Evaluate Returned Products: Inspect ISOtunes products for condition, functionality, and completeness. Perform basic testing using established checklists to determine whether products are suited for refurbishment, recycling, or other disposition. Accurately document product conditions.
• Refurbishment: Clean, sanitize, and refurbish eligible products according to established SOPs. Replace components, eartips, or packaging, perform post-refurbishment functional testing, and ensure items meet quality standards before packaging and labeling them back into available inventory.
• Recycling & Product Disposition: Separate un-refurbishable products, prepare electronics for approved recycling partners, maintain accurate disposition records, and handle items with special components (like batteries) per safety guidelines.
• Returns Inventory & Organization: Maintain accurate physical counts of returns and refurbished inventory. Keep all returns areas, recycling materials, and parts clearly labeled, safe, and organized, while monitoring aging inventory and assisting with inventory reconciliation.
• Returns Administration: Update relevant spreadsheets, Shopify, or systems to accurately reflect return statuses. Partner with Customer Service when additional details are needed, document refurbishment activity, and strictly follow SOPs.
• Process Improvement: Identify recurring issues or bottlenecks in the returns workflow, recommend practical improvements to increase throughput, assist in updating SOPs, and share return trends with Operations, Product, or Customer Service.

Qualifications & SkillsRequired:

• Detail & Organization: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to keep a clean, safe, and orderly physical work area.
• Dependability & Ownership: Reliable, capable of working independently, and comfortable performing repetitive, hands-on physical work while maintaining high accuracy.
• Technical & Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with the ability to accurately enter data into spreadsheets or systems, alongside basic mechanical or technical aptitude to follow technical checklists and learn about ISOtunes products.
• Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift and move boxes/products as needed throughout the workday.

Bonus Points: (If you don’t have these - we will train)

• Previous experience in returns, refurbishment, warehouse, fulfillment, inventory, or electronics repair.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Shopify, ShipStation, or inventory/order-management spreadsheets.
