We are seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our team at Haven Steel. In this role, you will operate CNC machinery to produce high-quality steel components, supporting our company's commitment to excellence in manufacturing. This position is based in Haven, KS.

DEPARTMENT: Tool and Die
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
SHIFT: 1st Shift
Position Summary
The CNC Operator/Special Projects role is responsible for operating CNC equipment, supporting engineering initiatives, and executing special projects that help validate and improve production processes. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, solid machining knowledge, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Apply basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Maintain excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Safely lift up to 45 pounds and perform overhead reaching.
- Work in various physical positions, including stooping, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing.
- Operate standard machine shop equipment, including surface grinders, mills, and lathes.
- Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude when interacting with co-workers, suppliers, and customers.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong self-motivation.
- Accurately read and interpret micrometers, calipers, and measuring tapes to within 1/32".
- Read blueprints, bills of materials, and die set information to fabricate, assemble, and verify tooling to specification.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise during machining and project tasks.
- Set up and operate 3-axis mills to produce one-off or prototype parts from engineering drawings.
- (Preferred) Experience with conversational programming.
- (Required) Understanding of G-code and M-code programming fundamentals.
Basic Requirements
- Minimum of two years' experience operating machine shop equipment in a manufacturing or tooling environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate two CNC milling machines (Hurco and Mazak).
- Support and execute special engineering projects to validate and improve production processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by assisting with prototype builds, tooling adjustments, and process optimization activities.
Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
