Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time compassionate and highly organized Floor Staff to provide direct support and maintain a safe, clean, and respectful living environment within the shelter.
Schedule: 32- 40 hours per week, 4-8 hour shifts, morning/day/evening shift
Key responsibilities:
This role involves completing daily tasks such as ensuring facilities are sanitary, conducting phone screens and room checks, and enforcing curfew and shelter policies. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential for answering calls, providing residents with resources, and assisting with conflict resolution. Floor Staff will collaborate closely with case management to ensure consistent support while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Enforcing shelter rules, issuing warnings, and documenting disciplinary actions.
- Upholding core values of inclusivity, dignity, and harm reduction while contributing to a cohesive team environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1 years of experience working with the unhoused community, social services or a related field, and/or lived experience.
- Ability to set and maintain firm, compassionate boundaries with staff and clients.
- Strong problem-solving as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort working with diverse populations including LGBTQ individuals.
- Excellent conflict resolution, and motivational interviewing skills.
- Bonus points for experience working with the homeless community/lived experience, experience working in shelters, outreach programs or harm reductions settings, or a familiarity with local basic services!
