POSITION: Part-Time Accompanist
REPORTS TO: HMS/HHS Choral Director
JOB DESCRIPTION
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Education and/or experience as a professional pianist/accompanist
• Ability to sight-read piano, vocal, and choral music, including open score
• Availability for night and weekend events as needed (concerts, festivals, trips, etc.)
• Willingness and ability to practice outside of the school day as needed in order to
effectively accompany rehearsals and performances
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to lead/assist with sectional rehearsals
• Ability to record practice tracks
• Ability to sub/cover music classes during instructor absences
• Ability to rehearse with vocal/instrumental soloists in preparation for contests, auditions,
festivals, etc. This may include time before and/or after the regular school day.
REGULAR DUTIES
• Accompany high school and middle school class rehearsals, Monday-Friday
• Accompany all high school and middle school choirs for concerts, festivals, and out-of-
building performances
• Accompany middle school choir for 8th Grade Promotion (TBD)
• Accompany high school choirs for ENCORE (May variety show)
• Accompany Wildcat Singers at Graduation
• Assist Choral Director with special events (Camp, Retreat, Tour, Trip, etc.)
• Accompany vocal/instrumental soloists/ensembles at League, Regional, and State
festivals
The ideal candidate will possess a high level of piano proficiency and significant
experience accompanying choirs and soloists in a variety of environments. The
accompanist will collaborate with the choral director and band director as needed to assist
with rehearsals and performances for all music-department-related events. A considerable
amount of local/regional travel (in school vehicles) will be part of the position. The ideal
candidate will also be oriented toward collaboration and building positive relationships
with colleagues and students as their musical growth and success are concerned.
