Position: Event Support Staff
Job Type: Event-Based / Part-Time
Location: Varies by Event
Job Description
We are seeking dependable, alert, and professional Event Support Staff to assist with event operations, guest management, access control, and overall event safety. Staff members must remain aware of their surroundings, follow instructions from event supervisors and law enforcement, and help ensure that guests are directed to the correct areas throughout the event.
This role requires individuals who are observant, confident, professional, and comfortable enforcing event rules and addressing situations that may occasionally become confrontational.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Your Assigned Post: Remain at your designated position for the duration of your assignment. Do not leave your post without authorization or proper relief from a supervisor.
- Stay Alert and Aware: Continuously monitor your surroundings, observe guest behavior, and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, or unusual situations.
- Maintain Awareness of Law Enforcement: Know the designated location of on-site police officers and remain aware of their presence and availability. Follow established communication and escalation procedures when assistance is needed.
- Bag Checks: Inspect permitted clear bags in accordance with event policies. Follow all established screening procedures and report prohibited items or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Verify Wristbands and Identification: Check guest wristbands and IDs as required to confirm access eligibility, age restrictions, and authorization for designated areas.
- Direct and Assist Guests: Interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner. Provide directions, answer basic questions, and ensure guests are escorted or directed to the correct entrances, sections, seating areas, and restricted zones as appropriate.
- Enforce Seating and Access Rules: Ensure guests are seated in their assigned or authorized areas and do not enter restricted sections without proper permission.
- Remain Professional and Engaged: Personal cell phone use is prohibited while on duty except for authorized work-related communication or emergencies. Staff must remain attentive and focused on their responsibilities at all times.
- Handle Confrontational Situations: Be prepared to address rule violations, denied access, seating disputes, and uncooperative guests in a calm, firm, and respectful manner. Follow event procedures, request supervisor or police assistance when necessary, and never escalate a confrontation unnecessarily.
- Communicate Effectively: Maintain communication with supervisors, fellow staff members, and authorized security personnel. Report incidents promptly and follow all instructions.
- Follow Event Procedures: Comply with all event policies, safety requirements, emergency procedures, and supervisor directives.
Qualifications and Expectations
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Must remain attentive and observant throughout the entire shift.
- Must be comfortable standing for extended periods.
- Must be able to follow directions and maintain a consistent presence at an assigned post.
- Must communicate clearly and interact professionally with guests.
- Must be comfortable enforcing event rules and handling difficult interactions.
- Must demonstrate sound judgment, self-control, and situational awareness.
- Must follow all bag-screening, ID-verification, wristband-checking, and access-control procedures.
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying event schedules as needed.
Important Expectations
Event Support Staff play an important role in maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment. Staff are expected to take their assignments seriously, remain alert, and understand that leaving a post unattended, using a personal phone while on duty, failing to verify credentials, or ignoring suspicious activity can compromise event operations and guest safety.
Employees must enforce rules consistently, treat all guests fairly, and request assistance from a supervisor or law enforcement whenever a situation exceeds their authority or becomes unsafe.
If you are dependable, observant, professional, and ready to take responsibility for your assigned position, we encourage you to apply.
