Deputy Court Clerk

Position: Deputy Court Clerk

Division: Municipal Court

Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr.

Nature Of Work

Work involves the performance of technical clerical function. Incumbent must apply independent judgement and interpret routine policies and regulations.

Examples Of Work

• Collects, sorts, and files court cases.
• Issues summons or warrants as required.
• Inputs information for traffic, parking, criminal citations, complaints, and other criminal/traffic matters into the computer.
• Schedule court trials, initial arraignments, hearings, and special settings.
• Notifies defendants and attorneys of court appearances.
• Assists judge in courtroom.
• Greet visitors and directs general public to appropriate area; accepts payments and issues receipts; enters payments in court records.
• Opens and verifies mail, removes and records checks, cash, money orders and other court related documents.
• Assisting and responding to inquiries from attorneys, judicial officers, the law enforcement community and the general public;
• Exemplifies excellent customer service skills and integrity
• Must work well with co-workers and public
• Performs related work as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D, plus two (2) years court clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to type 35 wpm. Must have and maintain a valid MS Driver’s License.

Clerical Skills Testing

You will be required to successfully pass a typing test.

Bonding Requirements

Although the City of Hattiesburg will pay for Bonding, you must be able to successfully pass bonding requirements.
