Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead non-clinical operations across perioperative departments. This role oversees scheduling, staffing, budgeting, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance. No direct patient care is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the Operating Room, PACU, Ambulatory Surgery, Infusion, and Central Sterile
- Lead recruitment, scheduling, and labor management based on caseload and skill mix
- Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to optimize OR availability
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Oversee equipment, supplies, and facility readiness for safe and efficient care
- Support change management and process improvement initiatives
- Monitor service metrics and drive operational excellence
- Interpret financial reports and manage departmental productivity and expenses
- Build effective cross-functional relationships and promote service standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in surgical services or hospital operations
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Certification in Operating Room Nursing is a plus, but not required
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage complex workflows and lead multidisciplinary teams
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, and occasional emergency response
- May involve irregular hours and on-call responsibilities
- Exposure to clinical equipment and unpredictable situations
