What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Hathaway Brown School?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing consistent, high-quality, daily medical care on campus for students aged 6 weeks to 18 years old and occasionally adults.
- Utilizing Magnus/Final Forms to track and review student health records.
- Training non-licensed faculty/staff on medication administration per the Ohio Department of Health guidelines which include but are not limited to the use of EpiPens and inhalers.
- Ensuring all students’ immunizations are up-to-date and a report filed with the State annually.
- Compiling student health data, such as allergies and medical restrictions, and sharing this information with faculty and staff.
- Tracking health trends such as COVID-19, flu, or other outbreaks, including management of outbreaks in collaboration with local health departments.
- Communicating with parents and faculty regarding the health concerns of students.
- Providing referrals for findings during screenings and routine visits.
- Preparing first aid kits and medical forms for field trips.
- Performing other medically related duties as assigned.
- Providing oversight of medical needs pertaining to robust summer programming.
- Assisting in designing and implementing plans such as our Individual Health Plans and Emergency Action Plans.
- Experience in Pediatric, Public Health or School Nursing and certified in CPR/AED.
- Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA laws and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent time management skills. Efficient and well-organized.
- Strong computer skills. Able to generate and use spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good moral character and a positive attitude.
