Electrical Estimator – Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and electrical construction projects. This role involves reviewing project specifications, analyzing labor and material costs, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and supporting the bidding process to ensure competitive and profitable proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Develop competitive bid proposals and pricing strategies.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients during preconstruction.
- Maintain estimating databases, pricing records, and historical cost information.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Ensure estimates comply with company standards and project requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3 years of experience in electrical estimating or electrical construction.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, NEC codes, and construction practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with commercial and industrial electrical projects.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Accubid, McCormick, or similar estimating software.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
- Knowledge of project scheduling and construction workflows.
- Understanding of local building and electrical codes.
Work Environment
- Office-based with occasional site visits.
- Collaboration with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
