The Hastings Area School System is seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-centered individual to serve as a High School Student Support Specialist at Hastings High School for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, a passion for supporting students, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
This position will play a key role in supporting student academic success, graduation planning, college and career readiness, and post-secondary opportunities, including Early Middle College and Dual Enrollment programming.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist students with academic planning and course scheduling
- Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements
- Coordinate and support Early Middle College programming
- Coordinate Dual Enrollment opportunities with local colleges and universities
- Meet with students and families regarding academic progress and post-secondary planning
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student success
- Assist students with college and career readiness planning
- Support students with credit recovery and alternative pathways to graduation
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation
- Assist with state reporting and compliance related to student programming
- Participate in student support and intervention meetings as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate, school counselor license, or related certification preferred
- Experience working in a school setting
- Knowledge of Michigan graduation requirements, dual enrollment, and Early Middle College programs preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and technology skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community partners
