Job Title: RV Service Writer
Position Overview:
The RV Service Writer serves as the primary point of contact between customers and the service department. This role involves scheduling service appointments, writing accurate repair orders, coordinating technician work, providing clear communication to customers, and ensuring an exceptional service experience. The Service Writer acts as a liaison to keep customers informed and satisfied while supporting efficiency in the dealership's service operations. Resumes will be reviewed starting Monday, December 29th.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Communication
- Greet customers promptly and courteously upon arrival.
- Listen to customer concerns, gather vehicle information, and accurately document service requests.
- Explain service recommendations, repair processes, and estimated costs in a clear and professional manner.
- Provide timely status updates to customers throughout the repair process.
- Handle customer questions, concerns, and complaints with professionalism and care.
Service Writing & Documentation
- Prepare and write repair orders with detailed descriptions of concerns, diagnostics, and recommended repairs.
- Verify warranty coverage and prepare warranty claims when applicable.
- Ensure all required approvals are obtained before work begins.
- Review completed repair orders for accuracy prior to closing.
Coordination & Workflow Management
- Schedule service appointments and manage shop capacity to optimize technician efficiency.
- Assign repair work to technicians based on skill level and availability.
- Work closely with parts department to ensure parts availability and timely delivery for service jobs.
- Monitor repair progress and follow up with technicians to ensure timely completion.
Sales & Relationship Building
- Proactively recommend additional maintenance and repair services when appropriate.
- Build long-term customer relationships to encourage repeat business.
- Promote dealership services, specials, and programs to increase sales opportunities.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all dealership, manufacturer, and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and service transactions.
- Ensure safety standards are followed within the service drive and shop environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Service Advisor, Service Writer, or in RV/automotive service preferred.
- Strong knowledge of RV systems, components, and maintenance/repair processes (or willingness to learn).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficient in computer systems, dealership management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training a plus).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45, $52,000.00 per year
