As a Purchaser in the wholesale food industry, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing a variety of food products to meet the needs of our customers. You will work closely with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure that all products meet our strict quality standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the food industry.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for a wide range of food products, including fresh produce, packaged goods, and specialty items.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure the best value for the company.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent supply and quality.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to align purchasing decisions with customer demand and market trends.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and company policies.
- Monitor market trends, seasonal availability, and competitor pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing activities, costs, and supplier performance.
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience as a Purchaser, Buyer, or similar role in the food industry, preferably in a wholesale environment.
- Strong knowledge of food products, market trends, and supply chain management highly preferred.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with procurement software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
