Job Objective

The Mechanical Integrity Lead will serve as the technical authority and program lead, guiding Harvest and contract Facility Inspectors in maintaining the integrity of Facility Fixed Equipment (vessels, tanks, piping, and pipelines) across Harvest Midstream assets in the Lower 48 and Alaska. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining and executing inspection strategies for facility fixed equipment and piping that meet regulatory requirements and align with Harvest Midstream risk management practice. This may be an office-based role in Houston or a field-based role at certain existing Harvest field facilities (Bloomfield NM, Vernal UT, Rock Springs WY, Alliance Terminal LA) working a typical 5 day per week schedule. Success in this role requires outstanding leadership capability and deep technical expertise in Mechanical Integrity Inspection and/or Engineering.

As a key leader in the Harvest Technical Services team this role is vital in supporting Harvest Operations to manage the mechanical integrity of facility fixed equipment, enabling safe and responsible transportation of energy. Dynamic communication, strong ethics and excellent collaborative skills are required to successfully align strategies with Operations Leadership.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and program oversight to Harvest and contract Facility Inspectors in the development, maintenance, and execution of inspection strategies that meet regulatory requirements, conform to industry standards, and align with Harvest’s risk management practices.
  • Review existing MI programs across various Harvest assets. Collaborate and optimize MI programs and procedures with an eye towards standardization when possible.
  • Manage contract inspection, NDE and general maintenance resources.
  • Drive innovation of the Mechanical Integrity program by improving strategy effectiveness, data trending, inspection efficiency and management of threats.
  • Prioritize equipment inspection and repair activities in alignment with the overall Asset operating strategy, assessing those activities based on overall risk and value.
  • Collaborate with Facility Foremen, Corrosion Engineers, and Integrity Engineers to continually assess equipment integrity threats and drive inspection efficiency.
  • Manage post construction/modification/repair quality inspection and testing for fixed mechanical and structural equipment.
  • Independently perform and/or supervise NDE techniques (MT, PT, VT, UTT) as part of scheduled API 510/570/653 inspections when needed.
  • Develop and manage annual inspection schedules and budgets using PCMS or equivalent tools and communicate priorities with Operations. Manage program within budget.
  • Review inspection results, determine necessary re-inspection intervals, and define repair criteria in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Issue and track deficiency reports, working with field teams to ensure close-out within compliance windows.
  • Upload all inspection results and supporting documents to PCMS and verify database accuracy.

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Track leading Key Performance Indicating Metrics to identify opportunities to improve Integrity across the assets and demonstrate value of Integrity program to operations and asset team personnel.
  • Maintain a service-oriented attitude to complete work scope and develop programs and procedures that support asset team goals and achieve effective compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • This role is expected to be responsive in supporting the field as-needed during time off, within reason based on support criticality and personal plans.

  • Travel to field locations to work with Operations and MI team to implement MI program goals and scope.

Qualifications

  • 10 years minimum working experience as an Inspector or Mechanical Engineer
    • 5 years must be in the Oil and Gas or a comparable industrial field.
  • Inspector candidates must have two of the certifications: API 510, API 570, API 653. If awarded this role, it is expected that Inspector candidates have the capability to obtain any of the above certifications, if they are not already held.
  • Working knowledge of Industry Standard Design, Repair and Inspection codes including ASME B31.3, 4, & 8; API 510, 570, 653; ASME BPV (I, II, IV, V, VIII, IX); NB-23;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional and solutions-oriented approach with employees, coworkers, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
Preferred

  • Experience with Mechanical Integrity databases/software.
  • Skills and experience in Mechanical Integrity data analysis.
  • Current or previous certification as ASNT (or equivalent) LII or III UT, MT, and PT.
  • National Board In-service Commission.
  • Working experience and knowledge of primary corrosion mechanisms in API 571, particularly damages relevant to carbon and stainless steels and common non-ferrous alloys.
  • Experience and skills in API 579 Fitness for Service Assessment.
  • Experience in working with CAD software.
  • Solid understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory compliance (DOT, PHMSA, OSHA).
  • Strong organizational skills for managing inspection schedules, documentation, data analysis and trending, and reporting.
  • Effective communication with multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, operations, contractors).
  • Comfortable performing inspections in high-consequence environments.
  • NACE CIP II, AWS CWI, Level II UTT/MT/PT.

Education Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, And Registrations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience or Equivalent combination of technical training and extensive field-based experience in mechanical integrity, inspection, or asset integrity roles.
