What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist Setup/Operator position at Harvard Products, Inc.?
Job Summary:
This individual is responsible for the manufacture and inspection of high precision components and products of varying complexity, under limited supervision. This person will also be responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed. Candidate must have their own tools.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Experience setting up and operating CNC Mill/Turn &/or 3 plus Axis Milling equipment.
- Trouble shooting of setup/program.
- Adjusting speeds and feeds as required in balancing quality and efficiency.
- Programming is not a requirement.
- Candidate must have strong comprehension and listening skills, follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Perform in-process and final work inspection to verify parts meet required specifications.
- Utilizes inspection equipment, and functions in a self-inspection environment requiring set up and proper maintenance of measurement equipment.
- Must be able to use various types of precision measuring equipment, and be familiar with machine shop practices.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition
- Adhere to safety requirements and perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
Education and Experience :
- Minimum of High School or Technical School graduate.
- Prefer 5 years machining experience, including a minimum of 2 years CNC set up and operation. Willing to work with an individual with less experience, but with the desire and capacity to learn.
- Shop math skills (trigonometry) and use of machinist handbook formulas necessary for calculating and verifying dimensions and other requirements of the manufacturing process.
- Strong knowledge of machine shop equipment and practice, specifically those involving metal cutting.
- Experience and understanding of 3 axis CNC machines.
- Manual machining skills are a plus.
- The ability to set-up, operate and maintain complex machinery.
- Must be able to read/interpret complex prints and part models.
- Knowledge of inspection techniques and processes with the ability to apply them using standard measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
Additional Experience Considered :
- Mig/Tig welding
Job Type: Full-time, days. M-F, overtime potential during the week and Saturday AM.
We will also consider individuals with similar experience looking for part time/seasonal work minimum 20 hours per week, flexible hours.
