Job Title:
Head Athletic Coach
Job Summary:
The Head Coach is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Qualifications:
ISBE teaching certificate or ASEP certification
IHSA concussion and PED test completed
CPR/AED Certified
Valid Driver’s License
Evaluation:
The supervisor shall annually evaluate the team leader. Such evaluation shall be reviewed with the team leader and made part of his/her permanent record.

Terms of Employment:
This is a yearly stipend position. Depending on the review of school needs and the evaluation process, the term may be extended annually.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow district policies and procedures.
- Organize meetings for prospective club members and encourage participation.
- Assess athletes' strengths and weaknesses to tailor coaching.
- Create and implement workout schedules for individual and team development.
- Coordinate facility scheduling with the athletic director.
- Instruct players on rules, equipment, and techniques to improve performance.
- Develop strategies based on team capabilities.
- Enforce conduct standards and supervise athletes at all times.
- Track academic performance to ensure eligibility.
- Encourage high academic standards among athletes.
- Implement procedures for handling injuries.
- Maintain open communication with parents/guardians.
- Comply with athletic program regulations at all levels.
- Model sportsmanship and appropriate behavior for athletes.
- Represent the club by engaging with media and community organizations.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain records, including eligibility forms and equipment inventory.
- Attend professional development sessions to enhance coaching skills.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, run, jump, stretch, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. The employee may occasionally climb stairs, ropes, or ladders. Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation.
