Job Title:

Horizontal Team Leader


Job Summary:

As Horizontal Team Leads, individuals are critical in aligning with the district's vision and ensuring collective responsibility for district success. They oversee collaborative processes to develop standards, assessments, and data reviews while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration among colleagues. These leads facilitate discussions and analyses of data to inform instructional practices and support colleagues in implementing effective strategies. Additionally, they collaborate with peers to enhance content knowledge and pedagogy, ensuring all students receive appropriate interventions and enrichment. Serving as active members of the Building Leadership Team, they contribute to decision-making processes and represent their teams in professional development sessions and weekly collaborative meetings.


Qualifications:

Overall evaluation rating of proficient or higher, consistently demonstrating effective teaching practice.


Evaluation:

The supervisor shall annually evaluate the team leader. Such evaluation shall be reviewed with the team leader and made part of his/her permanent record.


Reports to:

Building Principal or designee


Terms of Employment:

This is a nine-month stipend position. Pending the review of school needs and the evaluation process, the term may be extended annually.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shares the vision of the district and shares responsibility for the district's success as a whole.
  • Oversees collaborative process to ensure standard development, develops common formative/summative assessments, and conducts frequent data reviews.
  • Develops norms of collaboration and relational trust and employs processes and structures that strengthen the capacity to analyze, plan, implement, support, and evaluate practice.
  • Promotes a learning community with shared collective responsibility for the learning of all students.
  • Models and supports colleagues in the implementation of effective instructional practices.
  • Leads conversations that engage colleagues in analyzing and using data to strengthen instruction.
  • Facilitates the analysis of data to determine student and educator learning needs.
  • Leads colleagues to agree on standards, follow the curriculum, use common pacing charts, and develop shared assessments.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to extend knowledge of content, content-specific pedagogy, and how students learn.
  • Supports the facilitation of systematic interventions that ensure students receive additional time and support for learning when they struggle and extend and enrich learning when they have mastered the intended outcomes.
  • Facilitates selecting and implementing appropriate evidence-based strategies to achieve student and educator learning goals.
  • Attends and actively participates in monthly Professional Development as scheduled for Team Leads.
  • Attends and facilitates weekly collaborative team meetings within the buildings.
  • Serves as a member of the Building Leadership Team.

  • Must demonstrate a record of effectiveness in their own teaching
  • Must have earned the recognition and respect of their colleagues
  • Must have excellent planning and organization skills
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with others before, during, and after school hours as needed
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to commit to the role for the entire school year
  • Must model a strong commitment to continual improvement
