Job Summary:

The Data Management and SIS Specialist is responsible for meeting the school's data and reporting needs, providing support and coordination for student information system data management, student registration, transcript services, and assisting with data needs associated with state and national testing, certifications, and licensure.


Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required

At least three (3) years of experience in data management

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Google Suite

PowerSchool, Student Information System (SIS) experience, SQL knowledge, Oracle


Evaluation:

The performance will be evaluated at least annually by the Superintendent or designee

Director of Technology


Terms of Employment:

This is a 12-month, non-union IMRF salaried position with an hourly pay of $18-$22, as established by the Board of Education. As an exempt employee, there may be requirements to work beyond regular hours, including evenings and overtime, to meet the needs of the department. Flexibility is essential to ensure the efficient operation of the department


Compensation

The compensation package for non-union positions includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a $50,000 term life insurance policy, accrued vacation days, 15 sick days, 2 personal leave days annually, and holidays per district policy. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary manager of the district’s Student Information System (SIS), ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates and oversees all aspects of SIS data management, including student enrollment, registration, attendance, grades, transcripts, and scheduling.
  • Troubleshoots SIS-related issues, coordinates software updates, and ensures all releases remain current and compatible with state reporting systems.
  • Develops, tests, and maintains custom reports, data extracts, and dashboards to meet instructional, administrative, and compliance needs.
  • Provides ongoing training, documentation, and technical support to district and school-based staff on the use of the SIS, data entry standards, and reporting procedures.
  • Implements user access controls, data standards, and policies to ensure consistent and secure system use across the district.
  • Coordinates state and federal reporting, including submissions related to student enrollment, attendance, assessments, accountability, and demographic data.
  • Researches, interprets, and stays current on Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) reporting requirements, state data collections, and related compliance mandates.
  • Collaborates with district departments to ensure data accuracy, timely reporting, and alignment between the SIS and other instructional or assessment platforms.
  • Supports data needs for state and national testing, certifications, and licensure.
  • Assists in the preparation and distribution of required reports for district, state, and federal agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Analyzes data to inform decision-making and support the evaluation of district goals and initiatives.
  • Recommends process and system improvements to enhance efficiency, data quality, and service delivery.
  • Supports the development and implementation of district policies and procedures related to data management and reporting.
  • Provides excellent customer service, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and trust with all stakeholders.
  • Communicates effectively and responds to inquiries, emails, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participates in district committees, staff meetings, and professional development to stay informed about best practices in data systems and reporting.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all student and staff data, using discretion and adhering to all legal and ethical standards.
  • Complies with all federal and state regulations, Illinois School Code, ISBE rules, and Board of Education policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally and occasionally move or lift items up to 50 pounds. Regular attendance on the job is expected.
