What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Hartwig Mechanical?
Hartwig Mechanical is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing accounting team! The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment. This is a full-time, on-site role at our Rockford, IL office.
Pay: Up to $80K (DOE)
Type: Full time permanent position on site
Shift: M-THUR-0700-4:00PM -Fridays 0700-2:30PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and records.
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Monitor budgets, forecast financial performance, and provide insights to management.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.
- Assist with audits and tax preparation, coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional Accounting / Control experience, preferably in construction or mechanical contracting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accruals, accounting principles, and financial regulations and WIP.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Spectrum is preferred but not required.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and effective communication skills.
