Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Assistant Athletic Trainer role based in Oneonta, NY. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will support the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries for student-athletes across multiple sports. Daily responsibilities include conducting pre-participation screenings, taping and bracing, implementing injury prevention programs, and assisting with practice and game coverage. The role also involves designing and monitoring rehabilitation and return-to-play plans in collaboration with the Head Athletic Trainer and team physicians. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will maintain accurate medical records, communicate regularly with coaches and campus partners, and promote a culture of health, safety, and compliance with all institutional and governing body regulations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Injury Prevention and Prevention-focused programming for student-athletes.
- Strong Athletic Training experience, including evaluation, treatment, and on-field care.
- Knowledge of Strength & Conditioning principles to support safe performance enhancement.
- Proficiency in Rehabilitation planning, implementation, and return-to-play coordination.
- Current BOC certification (or eligibility) and state licensure (or eligibility) as an Athletic Trainer.
- CPR/AED and first aid certification, with a strong commitment to emergency preparedness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel for team coverage.
- Effective communication, documentation, and collaboration skills in a collegiate athletics environment.
