POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Facility Janitorial Team Member at Hartville Hardware Middlefield, you play a foundational role in the guest experience. A clean, well-maintained store communicates pride — and our customers and team members notice. This early morning position ensures the store is guest-ready before the doors open each day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL STORE CLEANING

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming throughout the store
• Ensure a tidy, welcoming environment for guests and team members before store opening

RESTROOMS & COMMON AREAS

• Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly, replenishing supplies as needed
• Clean common areas including break rooms, bathrooms, and offices
• Wipe down surfaces, tables, and chairs to maintain a clean and welcoming space
• Sanitize drinking fountains

FLOOR MAINTENANCE

• Clean and maintain all store floors, including both carpeted and hard surfaces
• Identify and address spills promptly to prevent slips or accidents

WINDOWS, GLASS & TRASH

• Clean windows and glass surfaces to provide a clear, appealing appearance for guests
• Empty and dispose of trash and recycling containers throughout the store
• Monitor trash levels and ensure timely, proper disposal

SUPPLIES & SAFETY

• Keep cleaning supplies organized and assist with efficient inventory management
• Dispose of empty packaging materials and maintain a clutter-free stock area
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines when using cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues promptly to management

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Previous experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial services is a plus — but not required
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
• Ability to work independently with a consistent, reliable work ethic
• Physical ability to lift and move cleaning equipment and supplies as needed
• Familiarity with cleaning products and their safe usage
• Dependable availability for the 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM Monday through Friday shift
