General Laborer – Underground Utilities / Drill Crew Full-Time | Field Position | ~50–60 Hours/Week
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a motivated and hard-working General Laborer to join our underground utilities drill crew. This is a hands-on, physical position that plays a critical role in keeping our drilling operations running smoothly. You will support a range of tasks from utility locating and excavation to pipe assembly and vault installation — all within a consistent, local job site location.
If you take pride in physical work, enjoy being part of a crew, and want steady hours with overtime potential, this is the opportunity for you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Spot and locate underground utilities using hand digging and hydrovac/hydro excavation techniques to ensure safe drilling operations
- Support the directional drilling process by making up and hooking up drill pipe sections as the bore progresses
- Assist with the installation of underground housing units (vaults), including setting, aligning, and securing structures
- Dig and prepare trenches to required depth and grade specifications
- Assist in splicing and joining pipe sections to ensure proper flow and fit throughout the system
- Proof pipe using mule string to verify bore path is clear and ready for product installation
- Maintain the overall workflow of the drill crew — keeping materials, tools, and equipment staged and ready
- Follow all safety protocols including proper PPE use, traffic control awareness, and excavation safety standards
- Keep the job site clean and organized throughout the workday
- Support crew leads and operators with additional tasks as needed to keep the project on schedule
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Consistent job site location — we meet up and work within a 5-minute radius, so no unpredictable travel
- Approximately 50–60 hours per week — overtime is a regular part of the role, not the exception
- Outdoor, year-round work in all weather conditions
- Physically demanding work including lifting, digging, bending, and standing for extended periods
- A strong, team-oriented crew environment where your effort is noticed and valued
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver's license — required
- Dependable, personal transportation to get to the job site — required
- Ability to perform consistent, physical labor throughout the full workday
- Willingness to work 50–60 hours per week, including early starts as needed
- Dependable — must show up on time and be ready to work
- Ability to follow directions and work safely as part of a crew
- Prior construction, excavation, or utilities experience is a plus but not required — we will train the right person
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Pay rate: $21–$23 per hour based on experience
- Overtime pay on hours worked beyond 40 per week
- Consistent, local work — no long-haul travel
- Opportunity for growth within the crew as you gain experience
