What are the responsibilities and job description for the President/CEO position at Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce?
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute member-focused strategies to enhance the value of Chamber programs for the business community and grow membership.
- Develop, manage, and maintain the Chamber’s annual budget and ensure the organization’s fiscal integrity through sound financial management and reporting.
- Lead the Chamber’s policy agenda and business advocacy efforts and serve as the organization’s representative to city, county and state government.
- Identify emerging opportunities and challenges that impact the business community and adapt Chamber strategies accordingly.
- Partner with local governments and economic development entities to support efforts to recruit new businesses to Hartselle.
- With a strong sense of engagement, participate at a local level to enhance the Chamber’s presence within community activities and events.
- Supervise Chamber staff to ensure work is aligned with organization goals, establish clear expectations for organizational culture and accountability, and provide leadership that supports professional development.
- Lead and participate in the Chamber’s fundraising efforts including grants and event sponsorships.
- Ensure each Chamber program supports strategic priorities and the Chamber’s mission.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and performance according to pre-determined goals and adjust tactics when necessary to maximize value and visibility.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop strategic direction and long-term planning.
- Provide the Board with accurate, timely information to support effective decision-making.
- Serve as the Chamber’s spokesperson for all media inquiries.
- Follow all personnel policies and perform required HR tasks including hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations and performance evaluations.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
- · Leading candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in a leadership position within a chamber, membership association, financial institution, nonprofit or community/economic development organization.
- · Ideal candidates will be highly regarded by their current business community as a leader and innovator.
- · Candidates will be expected to reside in or relocate to Morgan County, AL. Hartselle, AL is preferred.
