Job vacancy:                      SHIPPING & RECEIVING           

Job Function: Load, unload trucks, freight cars, conveyors and other types of transporting equipment, manually or with the aid of material handling devices.  Transport equipment, material, finished product and supplies to and from departments and work stations using hand trucks, tote boxes and other material handling equipment including forklift trucks. Carry out a variety of manual and general labor duties including material handling and routine coverage and relief for production workers when required.

General Responsibilities:

SHIPPING:

1. Count, sort, identify, weigh, pack, unpack, load, unload and move products and materials within a storage facility to and from a loading area using a forklift, hoist, motorized conveyor, manually or using other material handling and power equipment.
2. Assist other workers to move, sort and pile materials and products, load and unload trucks and railway cars manually and using power equipment including a forklift
3. Sort and distribute material to various areas in accordance to documentation
4. Inspect and examine materials to assess conformance to quality specifications visually and using various instruments and gauges
5. Organize orderly storage of finished goods in compliance with standard procedures
6. Verify inventory counts and quantities of product produced and shipped
7. Verify load to assure conformance with shipping documents
8. Inspect carriers to ensure no damage to finished goods during transport
9. Complete and maintain reports, shipping and transport documentation, and record logs
10. Operate a computer terminal and other computer related equipment relevant to job duties
11. Clean work areas and equipment, removing scrap, dust and other by-products from work and surrounding areas
12. Perform all tasks assigned with adherence to safety and housekeeping procedures
13. Train or assist in training new workers and participate in training programs to keep skills current

RECEIVER:

1. LOAD/UNLOAD AND TRANSPORT RAW MATERIALS, FINISHED PRODUCTS AND EQUIPMENT THROUGHOUT PLANT AND STORAGE AREAS MANUALLY OR USING POWERED EQUIPMENT INCLUDING A FORKLIFT.
2. CHECK, WEIGH AND SORT MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS
3. PHYSICALLY COUNT RAW MATERIALS ON A WEEKLY BASIS
4. ENTER RECEIPT OF PURCHASE ORDERS ON COMPUTER SYSTEM, ENSURING P.O. #, QUANTITY, MATERIAL IS CORRECT.
5. PLACE MATERIALS IN CORRECT LOCATIONS 
6. ASSIST MACHINE OPERATORS, SHIPPERS AND OTHER WORKERS WHEN REQUIRED
7. CLEAN WORK AREAS AND EQUIPMENT
8. CHECK RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED PRODUCTS FOR QUALITY DEFECTS AND CONFORMANCE TO SPECIFICATIONS
9. WEIGH, MEASURE AND CHECK RAW MATERIAL SAMPLES TO ASSESS CONFORMANCE TO SPECIFICATIONS USING SCALES AND GAUGES AND VISUAL VERIFICATION
10. ASSIST IN SET UP AND START UP OF MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT WHEN REQUIRED
11. TRANSPORT TOOLS, RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED PRODUCT TO AND FROM WORK AREAS USING HAND TRUCKS OR POWERED EQUIPMENT 
12. SORT, PILE AND TRANSPORT RAW MATERIALS AND WASTEPAPER TO PLANT AND PROCESSING AREAS MANUALLY OR WITH POWERED EQUIPMENT
13. CARRY OUT GENERAL DUTIES SUCH AS BASIC PAINTING, CLEANING AND OTHER MANUAL TASKS
14. CLEAN WORK AREAS AND EQUIPMENT, REMOVING SCRAP, DUST AND OTHER BYPRODUCTS FROM MACHINERY AND SURROUNDING AREAS
15. ASSIST OTHER WORKERS TO MOVE, SORT AND PILE MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS MANUALLY AND USING POWER EQUIPMENT
16. MAINTAIN WALKS AND DRIVEWAY APPLYING SNOW AND ICE MELTING MATERIALS WHEN NECESSARY
17. REMOVE TRASH AND LITTER FROM MANUFACTURING AREA AND GROUNDS
18. MAINTAIN AN ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF PRODUCTION MATERIALS REPLENISHING WHEN NECESSARY
19. MAINTAIN AND COMPLETE REQUIRED RECORDS AND REPORTS
20. TRAIN OR ASSIST IN TRAINING NEW WORKERS
21. PERFORM ALL TASKS ASSIGNED WITH ADHERENCE TO SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING PROCEDURES
22. PARTICIPATE IN SPECIFIC TRAINING PROGRAMS TO KEEP SKILLS CURRENT
