About the Role

Hartford Area Career and Technology Center is launching a new Dental Assisting Program this fall, and we're looking for a part-time Dental Assistant Instructor to help lead it. This is a great opportunity for an experienced dental professional who wants to give back by training the next generation of dental assistants in our community.

As the instructor, you'll teach adult students working toward a Traditional Dental Assisting Certificate and preparing for the DANB RHS exam, combining classroom instruction with hands-on, practical skill-building.

What You'll Do

• Deliver evening instruction two days per week (5:00–8:00 PM)
• Teach dental assisting fundamentals: chairside assisting, infection control, dental materials, radiography, and office/clinical procedures
• Prepare students for the DANB RHS (Radiation Health and Safety) exam
• Support students through clinical placements
• Track student progress and provide feedback and mentorship
• Maintain a safe, professional, and engaging learning environment
• Collaborate with program leadership on curriculum and student outcomes

What We're Looking For

• Current licensure/certification as a Dental Assistant, Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), or equivalent (Dental Hygienist or DDS/DMD also welcome to apply)
• Prior clinical dental assisting experience required
• Teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred but not required
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable working with adult learners of varying experience levels
• Reliable evening availability, 5:00–8:00 PM - days TBD
