Maintenance Technician

POSITION PURPOSE:

To maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment on all facilities buildings and grounds. This includes ensuring that all interior and exterior areas are properly cleaned, well-maintained, and functional so that occupants can operate in a healthy and safe space. Promote a safe, compliant environment by adhering to cleaning procedures, safety standards, and proper handling of supplies and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assures all buildings and grounds are maintained in a clean and orderly manner. 
• Maintains wood furniture that require oiling and maintenance tasks
• Responsible for picking up papers and trash outside all buildings of the Cathedral Campus.
• Buffs floors as appropriate for floor type.
• Perform minor maintenance of the rectory, Cathedral, other parish buildings as well as Pastoral Center campus
• Change light bulbs as needed
• Perform light carpentry work and minor repair work on the facilities as needed
• Provide general assistance as needed by setting up tables, chairs, etc.
• Haul and move items as needed
• Assure the collection of trash and the disposal of trash and garbage
• Sets up facilities for parish events such as weddings, funerals, etc.
• Maintains clean and safe environment in work area
• Maintain a supply inventory and order necessary supplies as needed.
• Covers for other Maintenance staff members during vacations and periods of absence

• Available for weekend and Holiday coverage as needed.
• Maintains communication with appropriate persons
• Vacuum carpets and entryway rugs
• Empty garbage cans and change liners
• Sweep and wet mop floor using proper cleaning solutions
• Inspects and cleans walls for graffiti and markings, if necessary
• Checks outside buildings for damage, litter and/or conditions of general deterioration
• Clean bathrooms, empty garbage, check paper towels, toilet tissue and hand soap, clean urinals and toilets, clean sinks and mirrors, wet mop with appropriate cleaning solutions, flush floor drain.
• Performs scheduled monthly, semiannual, or annual janitorial duties, i.e., floor waxing, carpet cleaning, etc., as directed in accordance with the parish maintenance schedule
• Cleans the doors, Narthex and wet mops the stairs
• Provides set-up and cleaning of facilities for evening or weekend activities as directed on an “as needed” basis
• Coordinates with Sacristan for event set up
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with policies put form by the facilities team

·       Must be on-call for maintenance or point of contact needs

·       Available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
