POSITION: Gym & Pool Assistant

LOCATION(S): Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy

REPORTS TO: Head Custodian, Custodial Manager or Designee

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist in monitoring students while in pool (WSI). Perform custodial duties to locker rooms and gym/pool areas.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists P/E teacher in monitoring students using pool.
• Issue towels and provide for their storage and laundering.
• Perform general mopping and sweeping, in addition to cleaning of toilets, shower areas, locker rooms, coaches’ offices, pool deck, and any other gymnasium or pool areas.
• Lines and sets up athletic fields for games and practices; as well as set up gymnasium for games and practices.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with both staff and students.
• Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
• Possess the knowledge and skill to complete necessary cleaning.
• Skill in making simple repairs.
• Must understand the importance of providing a clean, healthy and safe environment.
• Must be able to work within difficult time constraints and under stressful conditions.

CERTIFICATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: N/A

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary in accordance with Local 566, AFL-CIO Salary Schedule: 75 of Local 566 ($37,522-$41,187). Ten-month work year; forty-hour work week.

UNION AFFILIATION: The Board recognized Local 566 American Federation of State, Municipal and County Employees, AFSCME as the exclusive bargaining unit for this position.
