CLASSIFICATION: CERTIFIED CLASSROOM
JOB TITLE: TECHNOLOGY TEACHER/MEDIA SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL
SALARY: CERTIFIED STAFF SALARY SCHEDULE
Job Goal:
The technology teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by
translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning
experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- AZ Teaching Certificate
- 1-8 Certified
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Knowledge and competence in instructional technology applications and use for integration of teaching and learning
- Knowledge and competence in office applications including but not limited to Word, Outlook, PPT, Publisher, Excel and web publishing tools
Core Job Functions:
- Communicates learning goals to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
- Prepare and deliver instruction appropriate to the student population including curriculum that addresses learning styles, abilities, interests, behavior problems and student with special needs
- Create lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards
- Use district and state assessment data to improve instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and intervention programs
- Facilitate instruction based on current research-based best practices
- Effectively implement Individual Education Plans
- Develop a thorough knowledge of subject area and grade level curricula, and promote competency in information literacy across the curriculum
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate information literacy competencies throughout the teaching and learning process
- Design and implement teaching and learning activities, both individually and in collaboration with teachers and staff, that reflect the best in current research and practice
- Build and maintain expertise in a wide range of resources and technology
- Facilitate technology, liaison to grade levels, model and teach
- Collaborate with department, grade-level, school and district on curriculum development and assessment projects
- Model the effective and enthusiastic use of books, videos, multimedia, and other creative expressions of information as a sources of pleasure and information
- Maintain a collection that is diverse in format and content to support the learning needs of students
- Organize all resources for effective and efficient use
- Schedule the library media facilities for instruction and supervising student use
- Communicate regularly with the principal and other appropriate administrators about program plans, activities and accomplishments
- Work with the staff to determine the school’s information and instructional needs
- Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of the library media program
- Supervision duties as assigned by administrator
- Establish classroom routines to promote a positive environment conducive to effective instruction
- Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of low performing students
- Document and resolve issues related to student behavior problems and attendance
- Reflect on teaching and strive to improve professional competence
- Assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
- Participate in intervention process at sites
- Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings and parent conferences
- Participate in school and District initiatives
- Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments
- Facilitate learning communities with collaborative opportunities focused on instruction through technology integration
- Coach and model technology integration with classroom teachers when needed
- Work with curriculum department to develop and implement technology integrations initiative
- Demonstrate support for all educational technology initiatives
- Knowledge of educational trends and peer-reviewed research related to technology integration in the classroom
- Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the District or school site
