Job Summary
The Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, sanitation, and guest satisfaction. This leadership role manages kitchen staff, develops menus, controls food and labor costs, maintains inventory, and ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal health regulations. The Executive Chef is expected to lead by example, foster a positive team environment, and uphold the organization's commitment to excellence in food service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of all kitchen and food production areas.
- Create and update seasonal menus while maintaining quality, consistency, and profitability.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate kitchen staff.
- Monitor food preparation to ensure presentation, portion control, and quality standards are met.
- Maintain food and labor costs within budgeted guidelines.
- Order, receive, and manage inventory while minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for the kitchen.
- Coordinate with management to support special events, banquets, and catering functions.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs as necessary.
- Foster a professional, safe, and team-oriented work environment.
- Ensure all employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or in a comparable culinary leadership position.
- Current ServSafe® Manager Certification is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Must serve as the establishment's Liquor Permittee and be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable liquor laws and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, inventory management, and cost controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
