Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Journeyman Lineman/Foreman to join our dynamic team in maintaining and enhancing the electrical infrastructure for utility systems. Duties
- Lead and supervise a crew of linemen during installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead line systems, underground cables, and utility electrical systems.
- Perform high-voltage electrical wiring, relay testing, electrical blueprint reading, and troubleshooting using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
- Conduct rigging operations for heavy equipment movement and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe work environment.
- Operate bucket trucks and bucket lifts safely while climbing poles or structures to access overhead lines.
- Execute electrical safety procedures in compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and utility safety protocols.
- Perform utility locating, tree trimming around power lines, and cable splicing to support system reliability.
- Read blueprints and technical diagrams related to utility construction projects; interpret electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
- Engage in field service activities including relay testing, high-voltage wiring repairs, and system diagnostics to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with welding tasks on structural components or repair sites as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, safety inspections, and project progress.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Lineman with a strong background in overhead line systems, utility electrical systems, or industrial/electrical construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics accurately.
- Extensive knowledge of NEC standards, electrical safety procedures, PPE use, high-voltage wiring techniques, and relay testing methods.
- Skilled in rigging operations, welding techniques, cabling installation, and troubleshooting electrical issues using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters.
- Experience working in the energy & utilities sector with field service responsibilities involving utility locating, tree trimming near power lines, and construction site work.
- Ability to operate bucket trucks safely while climbing poles or structures; experience with bucket operation is essential.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure related to utility systems is a plus but not required.
- Strong commitment to safety practices including adherence to OSHA regulations and utility-specific safety protocols.
