Summary: The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for the overall success, leadership, and conduct of assigned projects and employees. This role ensures projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of client satisfaction, while fostering a positive and productive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Provide strategic “big picture” oversight for all project activities.
- Lead, develop, and train the project team, ensuring each member has the opportunity for success. Identify the strengths of team members and proactively address areas for skill development.
- Foster a positive team spirit and maintain a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Ensure consistency and efficiency by supporting and enforcing project management policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for Project Managers and Superintendents, encouraging regular communication.
- Work with Project Director to evaluate project workloads for assigned employees. Identify gaps and potential hiring needs.
- Act as a liaison between the operations team and other company departments for all assigned projects.
- Be an integral part of developing company initiatives to drive constant innovation and improvement.
- Act as the leader with assigned project teams to implement new processes and procedures.
- Serve as backup for Project Manager during absences (vacation, illness, etc.).
Project Planning & Execution
- Ensure that Projects Meetings are scheduled & conducted in a timely manner: Construction Plan, Acceptance of Estimate, and Progress Meetings.
- Develop and implement the project VDC plan. Execute the company vision of 100% modeling and pre-fabrication.
- Interface with Senior Leadership, VDC, and Fabrication departments to make informed scheduling decisions at a company level.
- Communicate regularly with the Trade Manager to review project manpower needs.
- Ensure progress & productivity tracking is implemented, evaluated, and acted upon using the Stratus SOP.
- Ensure QA/QC standards are adhered to.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Client Relationships
- Ensuring customer satisfaction is the primary focus of all projects.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Owners, Architects/Engineers, and Construction Managers.
- Support the Project Manager as the main point of contact with the customer. Step in as a Senior company representative as needed.
- Support the Project Manager in Change Order/Claim Management negotiations with the customer.
- Explore opportunities for future projects or service work with existing customers. Provide leads to the Preconstruction department.
Financial/Risk Management
- Review all contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders prior to final signature.
- Mentor and train Project Managers in developing accurate Cost to Completes and overall job cost management skills.
- Review monthly project projections and review adjustments before accounting input.
- Oversee accounts receivable for assigned projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is standard.
- 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical contracting, construction project management, or related fields is typical for a SR Project Manager.
- Experience should include direct oversight of large- and small-scale mechanical/HVAC/plumbing projects, team leadership, and strategic planning.
- Proven experience in project management within the mechanical contracting construction/design-build industry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Project, Procore, and Bluebeam Revu is expected.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks is essential for managing design coordination and virtual construction processes.
- Financial & Scheduling Tools: Experience with cost tracking, scheduling, and reporting platforms is important for financial oversight and risk management
Salary : $140,000 - $180,000
