Job Summary
The Electronics Team Leader will play a critical role in managing various aspects of incoming donations and assist with day-to-day operations of the Electronics departments. This position will be responsible for coordinating with the Thrift Manager daily to manage various aspects of processing donations to include but not limited to managing inventory, scheduling staff and volunteers, training and development, evaluations and other related duties as assigned by the manager. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, pay strong attention to detail, be a team player and have a passion for fostering a positive work environment for employees and volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise: staff, volunteers and work study students in the Electronics department. Determine specific workload/tasks (in cooperation with the Thrift Manager).
- Process incoming donations: help to develop work area(s) and pricing guidelines; sort, clean, package, and price donations; supervise stocking and rotation of retail displays.
- Be aware of processing supplies inventory and inform the Thrift Manager or Administrative Assistant of purchase requests.
- Assist in training and providing orientation for new staff, new volunteers and work study students. Assist in evaluating when training is needed for current volunteers. Assist in planning training events/workshops for all volunteers when needed.
- Attend regular meetings with, and as scheduled by theThrift Manager. Keep Thrift Manager informed of significant developments between meetings.
- Work cooperatively with the Thrift Manager, other Team Leaders and Team Members.
- Coordinate personal work schedule with the Thrift Manager. (Requests for paid time off must be reported to the Thrift Manager.)
Work Environment
The Electronics Team Leader is expected to report to The Executive Director in the absence of the Thrift Manager. This position requires attention to detail, good communication skills in order to communicate effectively with donors, customers and co-workers verbally ,as well as, written.
Harrisonburg Gift & Thrift supports the local and global relief, development and peace projects of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC.ORG). We also support other local nonprofits in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham/Augusta area that serve at-risk populations in our communities. We also strive to be good environmental stewards, saving as much as possible from the landfill.
Other Duties and Requirements
The regular schedule of work days is Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays with a schedule agreed upon at hire. Reliable and satisfactory attendance is an essential function of this position. The duties, responsibilities, and requirements listed above should not be interpreted as a comprehensive list. Requirements:- Experience or familiarity with range of electronics, how they work and how to test them
- Be available to work at the times needed by the Electronics department
- lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
- Be on feet the majority of the time
- Proficient in English with good oral and written communication skills. Ability to use the telephone effectively.
- General computer skills including email and internet use are recommended.
- Communicate with customers, providing courteous service
- A second language is a plus but not required
- Weekend availability
Salary : $17 - $19
