SUMMARY - Supports machining operations by assisting with process setup, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts. Works closely with machinists, engineers, and supervisors to ensure processes run efficiently, safely, and according to specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in setting up and verifying machining processes
- Support process improvements and implement changes as directed
- Help troubleshoot machining and tooling issues on the shop floor
- Assist in developing and modifying Mastercam programs and support program prove-outs
- Use PolyWorks and inspection data to support process validation and capability verification
- Assist with quoting fixture works for new castings or engineering changes.
- Participate in first article/NPI and process capability validation efforts
- Assist with fixture setup and adjustments
- Help perform time studies for machining operations
- Follow and help maintain process drawings, work instructions, and control plans.
- Verify tooling, gauges, and setup requirements are correct and assist with updating documentation when process changes occur.
- Identify process inefficiencies, report improvement opportunities and assist with Lean initiatives
- Work with Process Engineers and Superintendent to implement process enhancements
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May have supervisory responsibilities, if so, this position will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from an accredited college or university OR at least five years of current, related on-the-job experience and/or training.
Current, work-related experience in Master Cam 5 axis milling and turning, Mazatrol programming; Mazak Matrix controls, Mazak Integrex style machine, EIA/ISO programming, Fanuc, and 5 Axis Machining highly desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
