Job Summary:
Provide translation and interpretation services in Spanish and English for Harrison School District Two school and department personnel as needed. Provide oral and written communication from Spanish/English and vice-versa for various meetings, documents, and activities. Serve as a communication link between District personnel and non-English and limited-English speaking families. Translate and/or interpret faithfully, conveying the message and intent of the speaker. Maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide written translation services from English to Spanish and Spanish to English for various District and school/department needs. Proofread other translations and provide feedback.
Provide oral interpretation services from English to Spanish and Spanish to English for district level and school-specific needs.
Assist the Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) Department in the testing and evaluation of students who are new to the District for NEP/LEP identification and placement as needed. Assist with Spanish-based student assessments, such as ACCESS, as directed by the Supervising Administrator.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of two years of relevant experience in translation/interpretation, preferably in an educational setting.
Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to frequently travel among District buildings.
Advanced oral and written communication in English and Spanish required.
Applicants must have the ability to fluently read, write and speak in English and Spanish and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences.
Applicants must be able to provide accurate translation and interpretation services from English to Spanish and vice versa.
Applicants must be able to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively in various communication settings (professional, formal, informal, legal, informational) and with students, parents/families, school personnel and community members from diverse cultures and educational backgrounds.
