II. SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the general supervision and direction of the building principal, provides administrative direction, coordination and educational leadership in the school. Work is accomplished in cooperation with district administration. This position does not directly supervise others.
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to accomplish goals within established
school district policies, administrative regulations, state guidelines and current
educational research and development.
2. Maintains an awareness of important issues in the school and maintains a
commitment to the individual needs of students, staff, and parents.
3. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and commitment to diversity and
affirmative action. Applies these principles to working relationships with students,
staff, parents and the school community.
4. Applies knowledge and skills of supervision to programs and personnel through
leadership which inspires staff and students to contribute their best efforts.
5. Assumes responsibility for the organization, implementation, and administration of
assigned school programs such as student records, discipline, student activities and
supervision of certificated and classified staff.
6. Evaluates assigned certificated and classified staff in accordance with District
processes. Completes observations, gathers input from lead staff and provides a
performance evaluation that is supported by fact.
7. Assists the principal with development and maintenance of an effective instructional
and guidance program to include effective use of curriculum materials, instructional
supplies and equipment.
8. Provides administrative leadership, supervision and direction for all curriculum and
instruction programs and activities.
9. Assist in development of appropriate curricula for all disciplines. Supports and
monitors compliance with the District's curriculum including multicultural education
programs. Researches, and coordinates appropriate inservice training opportunities
for staff members.
10. Prepares and administers school and ASB budgets as assigned.
11. Prepares reports and maintains current records as required. Analyzes and utilizes
the data to implement program improvements within the building.
12. Works with the principal to assist in the effective operation of the site council and
helps to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the school improvement plan.
13. Supervises school safety programs; coordinates periodic drills for fire, air raid and
earthquake to ensure compliance with District, State and Federal regulations.
14. Maintains current knowledge, skills and abilities and professional capabilities in
educational leadership through participation in workshops, university classes,
journals and professional organizations.
15. Supervises after-school activities throughout the school year, including sports
events concerts and plays.
16. Organizes and manages implementation of major projects.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education and Experience
1. Master's degree in educational administration or related field.
2. Three (3) years of secondary teaching experience.

2. Knowledge of current educational research and effective instructional practices.
3. Ability to provide energetic, positive, visible and creative leadership and change
within the school building.
4. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

6. Ability to develop outreach activities that results in community and parental support
for all aspects of the school's program.
7. Ability to organize and work independently.
C. Certification and Licenses
1. Eligibility for Washington State Principal's Certification.
D. Desirable Qualifications
1. Recent experience with vocational-technical education programs.
2. Experience as an secondary assistant principal or other building-level administrator.
3. Experience in a leadership role at the building and district level, i.e. department
chair, district wide committee or task force, etc.
4. Experience with site-based management.
V. WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a secondary school which typically has several buildings. During a normal work day employee may have to go outside and maneuver steps, ramps, and uneven ground in all types of weather. Must have normal use of fingers, hands and arms: ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; and tolerance for occasional loud noises. Some evening work is required for attendance at sports and other school events.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee’s responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
