Position Summary:
The Supervisor is a mid-level management employee responsible for overseeing multiple production lines or areas within a poultry processing plant. This role manages Line Leads and their teams, ensures efficient operations across assigned departments, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and productivity while aligning with company goals and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee production lines or plant areas, ensuring workflow, output, and adherence to schedules.
- Manage and support Line Leads, assigning responsibilities, setting goals, and providing guidance.
- Monitor overall plant operations, identifying and addressing issues such as equipment downtime, staffing shortages, or quality deviations.
- Conduct inspections of production areas to enforce safety, food safety, and biosecurity standards.
- Coordinate with other supervisors, maintenance teams, and upper management to resolve operational challenges and plan daily or weekly production targets.
- Train and evaluate Line Leads and workers, ensuring proper onboarding and ongoing development.
- Analyze production data and report key metrics to management for strategic decision-making.
- Implement corrective actions for performance or compliance issues, such as retraining staff or adjusting processes, and escalate major concerns to plant managers.
- Ensure proper staffing levels by scheduling shifts, approving time-off, and coordinating with HR.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory audits.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or relevant certification preferred.
- Two years of experience in poultry processing, including prior supervisory or Line Lead experience.
- Ability to work in various plant environments as needed for oversight.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs while inspecting production areas.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams and resolve conflicts effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of poultry processing operations, safety regulations, and food safety standards.
- Analytical skills to interpret production data and implement process improvements.
- Communication skills to work with Line Leads, workers, and management clearly and professionally.
- Organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities and maintain operational control under pressure.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed across the plant, with exposure to cold temperatures, water, noise, poultry odors, and occasional dust or live bird areas depending on oversight areas.
- Protective gear (e.g., gloves, hairnets, aprons, steel-toe boots, ear protection as needed) provided and required.
- Shift work, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call availability, may be required.
