Position Overview
The Legal Assistant provides administrative and legal support to attorneys in a multi-practice environment, including areas such as real estate, corporate, and family law. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to adapt quickly, and a proactive approach to managing tasks and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and filings
- Open, maintain, and organize client files (physical and electronic)
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate deadlines
- Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and third parties in a professional manner
- Assist with real estate transactions, corporate filings, and family law documentation
- Track deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks and filings
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in firm systems
- Support billing processes, including time entry and invoice preparation
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys and staff as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a law firm environment preferred
- Experience supporting multiple practice areas is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint is a plus
- Experience with legal or case management software is a plus
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check
