POSITION: Elective Teacher 2026-27 SY
JOB SUMMARY: Harrisburg Middle School is seeking a dynamic, creative, and student-centered educator to serve as an Elective Teacher for grades 7–8, teaching beginning Spanish and leading the student newspaper program. This position plays a vital role in fostering student engagement, communication skills, creativity, and global awareness within a small, supportive school community. The ideal candidate is passionate about building strong relationships, designing engaging and relevant learning experiences, and helping every student find success. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Spanish instruction while also guiding the school’s newspaper program, providing students with authentic opportunities to develop voice, collaboration, and real-world skills.
SALARY RANGE: $45,359.87 to $87,503.29 a year- Full time
Placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education and experience and will follow District policy GCBA.
BENEFITS: Employer-paid insurance CAP to assist with health, dental, and vision premiums, employer-paid Basic Life and AD&D policies. Two (2) days of personal leave, ten (10) days of sick leave, seven (7) paid holidays, and a generous PERS retirement contribution (if applicable) for a full-time position. Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week, M-TH.
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Oregon Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement and authorization level required.

Qualifications:
- Valid Oregon teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s), or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Demonstrated ability to build positive, supportive relationships with middle school students
- Strong classroom management and effective communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and the broader school community
- Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in curriculum design and instructional practices
