Position Overview
Core Competencies:The Business Analyst is a dynamic and high-impact role with a focus on management reporting and analytics, strategy projects, and business support. This position will reside within Harris Williams’ Business Operations team, which supports the firm’s deal execution and origination efforts. The Business Analyst can expect substantial responsibility, as well as extensive interaction with senior-level bankers and management.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
Management Reporting and Analytics
- Complete monthly / quarterly updates to existing reports that track key performance metrics
- Engage firm-wide stakeholders to evaluate additional reporting needs and opportunities to leverage data
- Identify new internal and external data sources to improve and enrich our reporting capabilities
Strategy Projects
- Assist in preparation of firm-wide and senior management presentations
- Conduct competitive benchmarking analyses and monitor industry trends
- Support senior management and other colleagues with data analysis and ad-hoc requests
Business Operations Support
- Manage market data vendors and other key banker resources
- Continuously scan the firm to determine resource needs or gaps with respect to deal execution
- Partner with cross-functional colleagues to execute Business Operations initiatives
Job Specific Competencies, Education and Experience:
- College degree, preferably a business, finance, or statistics major from a nationally accredited university.
- 1-2+ years of experience in investment banking, financial services, or other professional services preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
- Record of being resourceful, a problem solver, and a proven self-starter
- Exceptional work ethic, with the ability to meet deadlines and execute efficiently.
- Strong presentation skills and ease in communicating with both senior and junior colleagues.
- Strong analytical skills and close attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- High level of competency in Microsoft Excel and PPT. Experience with Power BI and / or market data platforms such as Capital IQ, FactSet, or Thomson Reuters preferred.
- Good understanding of, or interest and willingness to learn about, the investment banking industry.
