Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual with some sourdough bread baking experience, a positive attitude, and a love for all things Bread! We’re expanding production in the Acton-Westford area and looking for someone who loves the craft, the science, and the rhythm of real bread, pasta, and more.
Whether you’re an experienced baker or a motivated apprentice ready to learn, this role puts you at the heart of a small working artisan kitchen. A very flexible schedule includes afternoon/evening hours, early morning hours, or weekend hours, and may vary week to week. General help at the bakery is also needed, from packaging assistance in the early mornings, to running farmer's market presence, inventory management and organization, or general bakery tidying, cleaning, or prep.
Responsibilities (more than one position is possible)
- Prepare sourdough dough from scratch following established recipes and techniques and a commercial spiral mixer
- Mix, knead, ferment, shape, and bake bread to achieve optimal flavor and texture
- Package finished products for sale or distribution while maintaining quality standards
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bakery workspace in compliance with food safety regulations
- General bakery help such as inventory management, stocking, organization, cleaning and sanitizing etc.
- Packaging and delivering products
- Support or complete ownership of presence at farmers markets and events
- Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed at all times
- Monitor baking times and oven temperatures to ensure consistent results
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines
Qualifications
- Ability to handle artisan bread dough
- Knowledge of sourdough fermentation processes and bread baking techniques
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation methods
- Working quickly and efficiently with a balance of attention to detail and urgency.
- Strong ability to multitask
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members
- Passion for baking artisan bread and creating high-quality baked goods
- Servsafe food handler license and MA Allergen Awareness training a plus
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lb (flour bags)
- Some familiarity with pasta making and industrial sheeters a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 15 per week
