Deputy - Part-Time - Investigator Financial Crimes Unit

The primary responsibility of investigators in the Financial Crimes Unit includes but is not limited to the investigation of Fraud, Forgery, Credit Card Abuse, Fraudulent use of ID, Cryptocurrency, and any other criminal violations assigned to the unit. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Case management 
• Interview witnesses and interrogate suspects
• Conducts surveillance 
• Conducts thorough investigations, subpoenas records, and any other items needed for case presentation to the ADA
• Conduct interviews with complainants, victims, witnesses, and suspects to obtain relevant facts
• Conduct follow-up investigations
• Prepares detailed reports
• Execute both arrest and search warrants, conduct surveillance, and assist local, state, and federal partners in conducting criminal investigations
• File charges and testify in court 
• Assists other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in conducting criminal investigations.
• Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary

THIS IS A PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION

THIS POSITION MAY END AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT

• Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement
• Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License 
• Willing to accept, attend, and successfully complete additional training as required
• Must present a professional image

Knowledge of:

• Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure, specifically Chapter 32

Skilled in:

• Proficient in the use of Superion, JWEB, CAD, DIMS, and JOTS computer systems 
• Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Word and Outlook
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficient report writing and communication skills

Ability to:

• Effectively manage a caseload
• Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines
• Work independently as well as in a team environment
• Work varying duty hours as may be needed
• Work with outside law enforcement agencies and HCDAO

• Previous criminal investigative experience

HOURS:      

• A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week
• Hours are based on the needs of the department
• Possibly including Weekends and Holidays
