Under the general supervision of the Admin Services Sergeant, the Conflict Resolution Specialist will provide support, risk assessment, safety planning, information, assistance, follow-up, and help with inmate-related complaints and concerns.
- Provide professional and respectful customer service to jail inmates, addressing their inquiries and concerns promptly and clearly.
- Review and investigate complaints submitted by inmates, the Jail Commission, and inmate family members, ensuring thorough documentation and timely resolution in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Initiate and maintain contact with inmates to investigate concerns, gather relevant information, and resolve issues effectively and professionally.
- Initiate and maintain communication with inmates' family members to address and follow up on complaints, ensuring concerns are documented and resolved promptly.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of inmate complaints, ensuring all documentation is properly logged, updated, and securely stored for review and follow-up.
- Perform other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary.
Minimum Requirements
- High school Diploma/GED
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with inmates
- An Associate’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field may substitute for two years of required experience
- Must pass a background check with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office
- Resources for inmates or the ability to learn
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and sensitivity regarding the issues of inmates
- Proficient in the use of programs such as software programs such as MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Work in an environment involving inmate issues
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
- Work overtime and/or varying duty hours and work weekends, including regularly scheduled call-outs, with an excellent attendance record.
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Knowledge of jail operations, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of inmate rights and responsibilities

- 40 hours per week - Various shifts based on the position offered
