Role Description The Harvest Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Asheboro, NC, responsible for overseeing daily beef harvest operations from live animal receiving through carcass processing. This role manages production schedules, supervises harvest floor teams, and ensures compliance with food safety, animal welfare, and regulatory standards. The Harvest Manager coordinates staffing, training, and workflow to meet yield, quality, and efficiency goals, while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. This position works closely with quality assurance, maintenance, and logistics teams to resolve operational issues, optimize processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The Harvest Manager prepares and reviews reports on production performance, addresses equipment or process concerns, and communicates priorities and expectations to team members and leadership.
Qualifications
- Experience in meat packing, beef harvest operations, or food manufacturing, with strong knowledge of slaughter and carcass handling processes.
- Skills in team leadership, staff supervision, and workforce scheduling, including coaching, performance feedback, and conflict resolution.
- Understanding of food safety, USDA regulations, HACCP, and animal welfare standards, with the ability to enforce compliance on the production floor.
- Operational skills in production planning, process optimization, and problem-solving to meet throughput, yield, and quality targets.
- Ability to work safely in a cold, fast-paced, industrial environment, including standing for extended periods and handling physically demanding tasks as needed.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams and documenting procedures, incidents, and performance metrics.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or management role within meat processing, food production, or a similar manufacturing environment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or education in meat science, food safety, or operations management is beneficial.
