We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, organized, and enthusiastic Assistant Publicist to join the prestigious literary imprint, Ecco! This position will support the tight-knit, dynamic Ecco publicity department (Director of Publicity and VP, Publicity) on projects across the full spectrum of Ecco’s list, including literary fiction and narrative nonfiction, cookbooks, poetry, memoir, science, biography, and everything in between. Our authors have won numerous prizes and awards, including the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and others. This position offers both the chance to work on projects independently and be mentored by one of the strongest publicity teams in the business. The role is perfect for a self-starter, someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and multi-tasks easily. Ideally this candidate is familiar with the Ecco list and is passionate about spreading the word about great books, tapped into the media and cultural landscape, and most importantly, loves to read widely. Responsibilities
The salary for this position is $52,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.

Responsibilities
- Provides administrative and publicity support to senior level Publicity team members.
- Oversees monthly paperback mailings and outreach.
- Coordinates author travel.
- Assists in pitching and implementing high-impact publicity campaigns, scheduling author interviews, and booking events.
- Helps write press materials (press releases, pitch letters, bios, etc.) with the goal of securing national, regional, and online media.
- Answers a variety of communications from media, authors, agents, and booksellers with professionalism.
- Coordinates mailings from the HarperCollins warehouse
- Researches and maintains media contact lists and database and strengthens/develops relationships with key media people.
- Maintains files pertaining to authors, book tours, invoices, etc.
- Assists with daily departmental duties (circulating press clips, completing copy center jobs, sending small batch quantities of galleys and finished books to the media, etc.).
- 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced/high pressure environment with tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environments
- Self-motivated, persistent, and goal-oriented individual
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; social media knowledge a plus
- Able to attend author events in NYC
- Should have a passion for books and knowledge of the media landscape
